DAPHNE

DAPHNE, AL

Historical records indicate Spanish explorers discovered the Daphne area as early as 1557. Valuable relics show that various tribes including the Tensaw, Alabama, Choctaw, Creeks, and Seminole Indians all lived in the area prior to 1557. The Daphne community dates back to 1763 and is known as the Jubilee City because it is the site of the rare "jubilees," which are when an unusually large number of crabs, fish, and shrimp become trapped in the shallow waters along the coastline. The Mama believes that fresh fish and shrimp “trapped” in our tacos, bowls, burritos, nachos, and quesadillas are the best reason to have a jubilee……especially with one of our hand-shaken margaritas.
